DEPARTMENT OF HINDI
The Department was established in the year 1945.
Hindi is offered as one of the languages for all streams of learning in the college along with Kannada and Sanskrit.

Changes made in the courses
The Syllabus framed in 2006 when the college became autonomous underwent a change in 2010. A module of Creative Writing was introduced for the BCA and B.Com classes. An introduction to scientific terminology was incorporated into the syllabus for BCA. In the same way commercial letters and commercial terminology was incorporated into the syllabus for B.Com.
Learning resources of the department
Our College library is well equipped with many good books in Hindi. Every year the department recommends books to the library, which caters to the needs of the students and the staff.
Modern teaching methods
Reading well-known Hindi newspapers is encouraged in all classes. Group discussions of current events are used to make teaching more effective. Films dealing with scientific and cultural topics are screened and discussions are held. Discussion of proverbs in Hindi are also encouraged.
Participation of teachers in academic activities
Kamalarani.H was a member of Board of Examiners in Hindi for Christ College in 2008. She was a member of the Board of Studies in Hindi in National Degree College, Jayanagar from 2006-09.
Under the Hindi Association we conduct Pick and Speak, Essay Writing and Debate competitions.
Development and expansion plans of the Department
The Department plans to train students to become translators and Hindi language officers in future. As Hindi is commonly spoken in the metropolis, there is a plan to start a short course in Communicative Hindi in 2012.
